02 UK Reconsiders Data Transfer Policy02 the cell phone operator in the UK had come out with a notice about their 200MB monthly transfer “fair-use” policy.  It now appears they have listened to potential customers in the UK about the data usage issue and have changed their policy.  With not a moment to waste as the iPhone is released on Friday, 02 mangers surely had their hands full updating their sales people with the change.

The 02’s terms and conditions page now reads:

“There is no limit on the monthly network usage.  However, if we feel that your activities are so excessive that other customers are detrimentally affected, we may give you a written warning (by email or otherwise).  In extreme circumstances, if the levels of activity do not immediately decrease after the warning, we may terminate or suspend your Services.”

It certainly is great to see a company responding so quickly and before the fact, rather than waiting for the public to become so upset that it is forced to change policy.  If more cell phone operators worked like 02 in the UK, then users would be much more likely to stay with the provider after a contract expiration.

The iPhone release in the UK will undoubtedly help Apple with their world wide user base and sales goals for the cell phone in 2008. Via Tuaw.
