Apple iPhone HarperCollins Site

Apple and HarperCollins have launched a web 2.0 mobile Web site that is accessible from the iPhone’s Safari Web browser.  The publisher is releasing digital excerpts from 14 books that can be read from an Apple iPhone.

HarperCollins said that the iPhone tailored Web site, is an extension of its Browse Inside program for perusing digital books from a desktop computer.  This same publisher had conducted a pilot project to test out this kind of technology via a Web site setup by Libre Digital.

There are several titles at launch which HarperCollins offers the digital excerpts of and they include Soul Catcher by Michael C. White, Now and Forever by Ray Bradbury, Winningby Jack Welch and Suzy Welch.

There will be more companies in the near future, which may include Amazon and Google, that release iPhone Web 2.0 sites for digital book excerpts. Via HarperCollins/Apple/CNet.
