Apple iWork 08 Numbers

Apple’s summer Mac hardware and software press conference on August, 7th introduced several updates to current products and showcased some new ones.  Apple released several changes to their product line and they are the new wired and Bluetooth slim keyboards, iMac 4th generation, a new PCI Express RAID card option for the Mac Pro and AirPort Extreme Base Station with Gigabit Ethernet ports.

Apple also updated several software products.  The first of which was iLife ’08 and then iWork ’08.  Not only did Apple update iWork to ’08 but they included a new spreadsheet software application called Numbers.

Numbers which imports and exports in Excel format a “spreadsheet for the rest of us,” and comes with easy access to features like the use of multiple formats on a single page, readable formulas, intelligent tables and what Jobs call “gorgeous looking spreadsheets very quickly.”

Keynote and Pages have been updated with new text effects and transitions.  Keynote also gets an option called “Smart Builds,” new themes and easier to use animation tools.  Pages receives built-in change tracking, upgraded compatibility with Word, a contextual format bar and 140 Apple-designed templates for documents.

The entire iWork ’08 upgrade is available from Apple for $79 or $99 for the family pack.
