AT&T is responding to potential and current iPhone customers.  New details are emerging about the data side to the iPhone plan.  AT&T is now offering an EDGE data-less iPhone plan.  It’s in an effort to win over new customers for this holiday buying season.  It is also an option for current customers to not jump cell phone carriers.

1.1.2 Jailbreak With Activation And PowerPC SupportA new iPhone firmware 1.1.2 Jailbreak process has been released.  What’s interesting with this new method is that it includes activation.  Activating an iPhone is necessary to use the cell phone part of the iPhone without the iTunes AT&T account activation.

Mac OS X Leopard Auto quit Printer Software OptionMac OS X 10.5 Leopard has been available for a little while and tips are starting to emerge on how to use it better.  Today’s tip focuses on Leopard’s printing software.  When installing an upgrade of Leopard on several different Mac’s it has always deleted all installed printers.  Be sure to note all printers, IP addresses and what driver software is used for each.  Establishing each after the install could take a very long time.  Some printers do not have a PS or PostScript hardware module installed.  This means that setting up a printer profile in Leopard takes a little more know how than almost everything else in Mac OS X 10.5.

iPhone Firmware Update 1.1.2 Released For US ModelsApple released the US version of its 1.1.2 iPhone firmware software.  It is available now via iTunes automatic upgrade.  To perform the update, connect an iPhone to a computer with iTunes 7.5.  The iPhone will be recognized by the iTunes software and download the necessary firmware update.  There are several new minor features for the US version of the firmware.  However, the new features are not as exciting as the 1.1.1 iPhone firmware update.

112 Jailbreak Software For iPhone & iPod TouchThe 1.1.2 firmware for the iPhone cell phone and iPod touch both have a new GUI jailbreak.  The software is available and runs under Mac OS X and Windows.  Once connected, the software downloads the data from the iPod touch or iPhone, upgrades it with the new Jailbreak, installs SSH.app and installer.app and reloads it back to the device.  It should take about 10 minutes if done correctly and after it’s done, the device should be updated to 1.1.2.

iPhone Released In Germany And Regent Street UKApple has finally launched the iPhone in Köln (Cologne), Germany and the Regent Street Apple Store in the United Kingdom.  People are finally able to put finger to touch sensitive screen and get used to the exceptional rotation censor.  Most users right away will be trying to figure out how to use the keyboard in mobile Safari.  The main tip there is to rotate the screen in landscape view to get teh larger buttons.

iPhone Firmware Update 1.1.2Apple has updated its iPhone cell phone firmware to 1.1.2.  This was a timely update for two reasons.  The first reason was that Apple just released an updated Quicktime 7.3 and iTunes 7.5.  Commonly, when Apple updates these programs in concert an iPhone cell phone firmware update is around the corner.

02 UK Reconsiders Data Transfer Policy02 the cell phone operator in the UK had come out with a notice about their 200MB monthly transfer “fair-use” policy.  It now appears they have listened to potential customers in the UK about the data usage issue and have changed their policy.  With not a moment to waste as the iPhone is released on Friday, 02 mangers surely had their hands full updating their sales people with the change.

Jailbreak Apple iPhoneWhen users jailbreak an Apple iPhone these days, one would think that the world is coming to an end.  At least that’s what Apple would like for would be buyers of the iPhone to believe.  Jailbreaking an iPhone is not only easy to do, even with the newest 1.1.1 firmware, but it opens up the iPhone to a whole new world of software possibilities.

Some users have asked if jailbreaking an iPhone will render it useless.  This method only reassigns the root of the iPhone’s file tree.  This is technical speak, but the main fact is that it in no way affects the iPhone’s telephone function or software that runs the baseband modem of the cell phone.
