Google+ Social Networking Site Project

Some say Google+ is a Facebook killer and others say, “what’s Google plus?” After a few weeks, 20,000,000 people have signed up to be a part of Google’s next social networking experiment. I say experiment because Google Wave, a service that’s now a part of Google+, was supposed to be the next big social network. But there were seeds of success harvested from Google Wave that just sprouted into their next social networking site experiment. Even though Google Wave was a misfire, it brought greater attention to other services like Gmail. Twitter users will like Google+’s expanded character support, link embed and integrated photo tagging. People using Google’s Android mobile operating system and Twitter will enjoy sharing content quicker than they thought possible.

Samsung CES 2011 Booth Galaxy TabSets of tablets were announced in late 2010 that were going to be shown off at the upcoming International Consumers Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Seeing as how I was going to be speaking at the CES 2011 convention, it would be a perfect time to visit the different manufacturer booths to learn more about the Motorola Xoom, Research In Motion’s Blackberry Playbook and the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Also excellent was that I was going to be visiting one of the most concentrated groups of consumer electronics enthusiasts, buyers and manufacturing people in the world, to discuss the pros and cons of the devices. So Samsung and I thought it would be a great time to test out a Galaxy Tab 7″ with Verizon 3G service.

International Association of Business Communicators Las Vegas

The Las Vegas chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators or IABCLV held a social media panel that I participated in talking about the role of microblogging, like the services that Twitter and Facebook provide for business communications. The panel event was one of the most successful for the Las Vegas chapter and was spearhead by Victoria Soares, a member of the IABLV. Mrs. Soares asked several prominent social media professionals that cover business blogging, fashion blogging and I to talk about how blogging and microblogging could help their business.

International Consumers Electronics Show 2011 FourSquare Badge

Social media engagement has finally arrived at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The CES event, located at the Las Vegas Convention Center, actually broke over 150 people over a 2 hour period on FourSquare yesterday. Last year, right before the official opening of CES, at about the same time, check ins on FourSquare didn’t even make it over 50 people.

Chris Rauschnot and Matt Cutts PubCon 2010 Las VegasMatt Cutts is the head of an important team inside of Google, a search company that you might have heard of or even used on occasion. Who are we kidding, Google supplies in the order of 80 plus percent of any websites traffic, depending on who you ask or log files you observe. Matt was about to start his Super Session at PubCon 2010 in Las Vegas, there’s also one in Austin, Texas where the founder lives. Before we get into the Super Session tips from Mr. Cutts, PubCon is a social media and search conference, which is why Google sent over an important figure in their organization to speak. This was my first visit to a PubCon conference, and thanks to Brett Tabke, my brother and I finally had a chance to do so.

Around the month of March, I received an email from Norwegian Cruise Line giving me the opportunity to be a part of an inaugural cruise in Miami, Florida for the Norwegian EPIC, the most expensive and luxurious cruise ship by NCL. The EPIC is the largest cruise ship ever attempted by Norwegian. That means it will have the most staterooms and luxury suites of any cruise liner ship, in their entire fleet. This is not where this story started. It began many months before, when cruising on the Norwegian SUN.
