Ultimate Ears MEGABLAST Speaker Unboxing

What makes the Ultimate Ears MEGABLAST and BLAST speakers the ones to get? They both produce clear audio with deep bass that brings your favorite tracks to life. The MEGABLAST is UE’s most powerful speaker that can fill multiple rooms with sound. The BLAST is just right for a large single room or at the beach. They both have long lasting rechargeable batteries that can go up to 16 hours, 360 degree sound, Bluetooth, and multiple microphones that incorporate noise cancelling technology for use with Alexa.

The MEGABLAST speaker comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections. The Wi-Fi connection works at up to 330ft and Bluetooth as far as 150ft. Its battery can go for up to 16 hours on a single charge. That is enough charge to play music during a day adventure and to chill with in the evening. UE also has a base charging unit to keep the battery charged when using it at home.

UE’s BLAST speaker comes as a more manageable device. They have packed all of the same great technology into this gadget with a 12-hour battery life, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and microphones for use with Alexa. The BLAST fits nicely in a backpack or a messenger bag’s side water bottle holder.

Do not worry about getting these speakers wet; they are IP67 rated for immersion into water up to 1m for up to 30 minutes. If you have looked at the MEGABLAST and BLAST speakers in the past, there are new experiences to entice you this time around.

There are enhanced controls for the Ultimate Ears app on your iPhone or Android smartphone. Volume can now be controlled remotely from the app, which is useful if your music is up and you want to use Alexa. Checking the battery power level can be done in two ways, either through the app, or directly from the speaker by pressing the “+/-” volume buttons at the same time. A custom equalizer EQ is also now available to tune the speaker to match your favorite music genre.

When I checked with Ultimate Ears, they said that the voice control on Spotify and Spotify Connect are both now live. The other features that will be coming are updated on the cloud side, so you will not have to update your control app to get them.

Voice control on Spotify and more is as easy as saying, “Alexa, play my Discover Weekly” or any music from Spotify with the MEGABLAST and BLAST speakers. Spotify will soon join other Amazon Alexa supported music services such as Amazon Music, Deezer and TuneIn globally; and Pandora, iHeartRadio and SiriusXM in the U.S. Use your voice to control music from these streaming services over Wi-Fi. On Bluetooth, you can enjoy music from any of your favorite music services via your iPhone or Android and a wireless connection.

MEGABLAST and BLAST are the first Ultimate Ears speakers to integrate Spotify Connect. When on Wi-Fi, open the Spotify app on your iPhone or Android and play music directly to the speakers (under “Devices Available”) without the need to pair through Bluetooth. Audiophiles will enjoy streaming the highest quality sound possible from Spotify. With Spotify Connect, text message or make calls without interrupting the music and save your phone’s battery too.

Get a great deal on the MEGALAST and BLAST for a limited time. So far, these are nearly the best Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled speakers that I have tested.
